This request marks the beginning of organizing a tailor-made wine adventure to a region renowned for its incredible landscapes, millennia-old history, and rich local traditions. These elements are the essence of the remarkable wines produced in this unique land.
Our team is dedicated to crafting a personalized itinerary that will immerse you in the beauty and heritage of Priorat. From guided tours through scenic vineyards to exclusive tastings at renowned cellars, every detail will be meticulously planned to ensure an unforgettable experience. Join us in exploring the hidden gems of Priorat, where each sip tells the story of this exceptional wine region.
To truly understand Priorat wines, one must walk through its vineyards—whether the centenarian vineyards on steep slopes or the 50-year-old vineyards planted during the viticultural revolution in the region. A private 4x4 vehicle excursion was scheduled not only to appreciate the heroic viticulture practices in these vineyards but also to provide an incredible opportunity to taste premium wines while enjoying breathtaking landscapes.
Gemma guided us to the top of the mountains, near one of the highest vineyards in Priorat, where we were captivated by the views of terraced fields filled with vines. We savored fine red wines paired with olive oil and delicious local cheeses, enhancing the wine experience.
Upon returning to the cellar, we visited the aging room. This underground space not only houses traditional barrels but also glass and clay pots, showcasing the innovative techniques used to create some of the finest new styles of Priorat wines.
The next winery we visited is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cellars in Priorat: the renowned Clos de L’Obac - Costers del Siurana. Welcomed by Carles Pastrana, one of the pioneers of the Priorat revolution in the 1980s, we toured the facilities and concluded with an incredible tasting of the finest white and red wines from this remarkable winery.
Our third cellar visit of the day was to the “Garage” of José, a viticulturist who defines himself as a grapegrower, winemaker, and salesman. He single-handedly manages the entire production of his “cellar.” This visit was a fascinating insight into how one person can produce an outstanding 100% Carignan wine with a limited production of just 2,000 bottles across four different wines. Although not widely known outside Priorat, some of his red wines can be found in prestigious restaurants like the three-starred Michelin Celler de Can Roca. This visit offered us the chance to taste very limited and unique bottles from an incredible Priorat gem, in a setting that prioritizes authenticity over luxury.
In the afternoon, the customers enjoyed the fantastic facilities of the Gran Hotel Mas de’n Bruno. A Relais & Châteaux 5-star hotel with an amzing spa area, swimming pool, and wine bar that offers the best wines of Priorat. This hotel was awarded the title of Best Resort in Europe in 2024 by Travel & Leisure magazine.
The day concluded in the best possible way with a gastronomic dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, where we savored the finest local cuisine of this Mediterranean region. Naturally, the gourmet meal was perfectly paired with local wines.
The second day began with a delightful wine tasting in a picturesque vineyard located in the valley of Porrera. Guided by the winemaker, Maria, we had the opportunity to taste the premium Carignans and Grenaches from the winery while standing in front of the very vineyards where the grapes were grown.
It was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the tour, as the beautiful and sunny day added to the charm and enjoyment of the experience. The setting, combined with Maria’s expertise and the exceptional quality of the wines, made this tasting an unforgettable moment on the journey through Priorat.
Our next wine tasting took place in a cellar that is quickly gaining a stellar reputation thanks to its talented winemaker. Although the wines are becoming popular locally, they remain relatively unknown outside Priorat, as the project is still growing and expanding. The increasing quality of their offerings is drawing more attention and admiration from wine enthusiasts.
The visit included a unique barrel tasting, allowing us to experience the distinct differences between the same varietals planted in different valleys or aged in different casks. This educational experience was enhanced by the winemaker's insightful explanations.
The final tasting took place in an upstairs tasting room, where we sampled the aged bottles. The magnificent room offered breathtaking views of the picturesque Priorat landscape, making the experience truly memorable and worthwhile. The combination of exceptional wines, stunning scenery, and the passion of the winemaker made this visit an unforgettable highlight of our tour.
The wine tour concluded at a charming, intimate restaurant that specializes in authentic local dishes of gastronomic cuisine. It was more than just a meal; it was an immersive experience. The restaurant is run solely by the cook and the sommelier, who also act as hosts, engaging in continuous conversations with us throughout our meal. We truly felt like guests in their home, enjoying genuine hospitality.
Our customers spent a second night at the Relais & Châteaux hotel, taking advantage of its luxurious facilities while reminiscing about the wonderful memories and exceptional wines they had collected to fill their private cellars with unique bottles from Priorat.
In summary, this meticulously planned, tailor-made, multi-day wine tour of the Priorat wine region offered a personalized adventure designed to provide a deep understanding of Priorat wines and the region's current viticultural scene. From exploring the old styles of Priorat wines to the traditional blends of Carignan and Grenache, the international Cabernet and Syrah with a uncommon taste, and even tasting the differences between vineyards in various valleys, this tour was a comprehensive exploration of Priorat's finest and most unique wines.
