It was a very informative and an enjoyable wine tour we had with Xavier, he gave us an overview of the history of wine making in the Penedes region. Connecting to the history involving the Romans and then later the Moors and to present day Catalan and Spanish evolvement of the mastery required to cultivate the different varieties of grapes making agronomic expertise and understanding of the soil and climate resulting in the fine wines of the region. We were particularly interested in the making of organic wines and visited the organic pioneer estate of Albet i Noya that started making organic wines some 40 years ago. The tour around the estate was enjoyable and informative and we tasted some excellent wines at the estate and the hostess there provided us with information about their organic wine cultivation and processing. Overall, we can highly recommend the wine tour and experience and Xavier is an excellent guide, and as on this tour we were only two, he could personalise the tour experience and provided pickup from our lodgings and drove us back at the end of the tour. I did Xavi’s experience with my boyfriend, brother and sister in law while on a holiday in Sitges. Long story short - it was great! I had read great reviews here about Xavi’s trip but unfortunately we couldn’t go on the advertised dates. I messaged Xavi and he was kind enough to add a date specially for us! Communication was great both before and after the trip. From the moment we boarded Xavi’s car he shared so much great knowledge in a very fun way. We stopped at different view spots on the way to the winery and Xavi took photos for us the whole time that he shared with us online afterwards. The winery was just lovely, we have done many winery tours in different countries but this one was one of the best. Before the trip Xavi asked about our interests and was really clever with conveying info that we enjoyed. The experience was great in every aspect but my favorite was Xavi’s knowledge and in depth explanations about winemaking which we really enjoyed. Highly recommended!
